Robotic process automation, in English RPA (Robotic Process Automation), is a technology that has escalated in a dizzying way in recent years. From being a platform mainly used by BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) providers, it has become implemented and used by more layers within the business range.
In 2018, according to figures managed by the international consultancy Gartner, 846 million dollars were invested in RPA, 63.1% more than in 2017, making it the fastest-growing segment of the business software market.
But its cycle seems to be on the rise, specialists predict that by 2022 the RPA figures will continue to grow and increase until reaching 2.4 billion dollars.
The use of specialized software during the automation of business operations, with the aim of reducing human intervention, is called: RPA – Robotic Process Automation.
RPAs bring great benefits to businesses: they speed up processes, relate applications, eliminate errors and reduce costs. We could say that RPAs have proven to be highly effective. However, the greatest potential for achieving a high return on investment (ROI) depends mainly on whether the RPA meets the needs and objectives of the company.
Robotic Process Automation software can optimize its potential with the boost of AI ( Artificial Intelligence ), but not all use this technology. This software is a first step to start a path to an even bigger breakthrough.
To successfully launch an initiative with RPA should not be seen only as a way to reduce costs. It is necessary to have an action strategy for the implementation, evaluate the possible cases of use of the tool in the organization and, in addition, focus on activities that end up generating returns (ROI) and frequent income in the company.
It is also important to clearly establish the expectations of what can be done with the RPA and use the software to support the digital transformation strategy within the organization, in order to advance automation plans within the company.

What is the best strategy to optimally evaluate and identify the processes where RPA software can deliver positive results in your business? Initially, it is necessary to know in detail each and every one of the processes where you are considering automating. This, although it seems a trivial task, is a fundamental axis for the success of the project.
Automation is based on executing clear and defined processes. If the person or department in charge of leading the project is not clear about the process, the RPA will not be entirely useful. Knowing all the layers of the process well before implementing the “Robotic Process Automation” will avoid mistakenly automating functions and will speed up the process of creating the functionality map.
Process automation with RPA helps companies on their path to digitization. Below we indicate some use cases in different departments:
